Bug Club

Bug Club

This is a very substantial new reading programme, which covers the earliest stages of reading through to the end of key stage 2. It makes full use of technology, including whiteboards and the possibilities that have opened up with online reading. It allows for every pupil to have a home page, where the books allocated by the teacher can be read in school and at home. Teachers can make use of the online recording and assessment tools, as well as having their own printed support material, including a Teaching and Assessment Guide, a Planning and Assessment Guide, and a book of Photocopy Masters. Parents have not been forgotten, and, as well as being able to follow and support their children’s progress, there are notes and tips for them, and games they can play online with their children.

‘Phonics Bug’,

The programme continues to be developed, with the Alphablocks characters from CBeebies being featured for the youngest learners. Materials for KS2 will be published in the Spring and will make Bug Club a whole-school approach. More new character clusters are introduced at KS2 including Dr Who, Charlie Small, The Quigleys and An Awfully Beastly Business.
