Hair, There and Everywhere: A Book About Growing Up

This book by Jacqui Bailey, with its intriguingly apt title, is all about growing up. It is not afraid to go into detail about such sensitive matters as: how babies are born; periods and what to wear; circumcision and masturbation; sexuality and understanding abuse. A great deal of factual information is covered in an entertaining manner, for instance, the author points out that “there is an amazing cure for smelly sweat – it’s called washing!” The lively illustrations are sometimes accompanied by speech bubbles and text boxes are used to highlight important points.
