Lexia Reading

Description

Lexia Reading is a computer based independent learning system with several programmes. There are three levels; Early Reading [Ages 4-6], Foundation Reading [Ages 5-8] and Strategies [ Ages 9-Adult]. The system is predominantly phonics based, beginning at initial letter level and including a simple comprehension element. Can help detect specific difficulties such as dyslexia. Pupils work through the programme at their own pace and the computer keeps track of their progress. Children can log on at their own time, it adapts according to their ability and interest level and can automatically set itself to do more of the tasks that the student is struggling with. The software is continually being improved and has been developed to offer lesson plans and worksheets printed to meet individual needs . Behind the scenes, continuously assesses the children's needs and reports back to the teacher. The company offers schools and support services a trial impmentation of Lexia Reading to establish software needs.Works best if used little and often.
