Stanley Bagshaw and the short-sighted football trainer

Description

written and illustrated by Bob Wilson
This delightful comic-strip format story is set in the North of England in the 1950's - complete with baggy shorts and flat caps! Stan wants to see his team Huddersgate Albion play in the cup but unfortunaltely the game's sold out. He goes down to the ground anyway, and one way and another finds himself playing in goal! It's warm, funny and told in a catchy, flowing rhyme very reminiscent of the late  Stanley Holloway. This is a picture book with appeal across the age range. The exuberant illustrations are full of detail and packed with humour and the rhyming language is a joy - both to read independently and to read aloud! Although the Stanley Bagshaw titles have been around for a long time, they are as fresh today as when they were first written and there's a whole new generation of children just waiting to get to know them!
